Welcome to RichardandAlex.com! This website has been set up by ourselves - Richard and Alex Harrison, to provide information and raise awareness about our trek over the Pyrenees Mountain Range.

So... What are we doing??
The whole trip combines a challenging, eight-day hike over the Pyrenees Mountains, raising money for charity, followed by a weeklong recovery period in a village in rural Spain.

We are aiming to arrive at our destination in time for the village's annual fiesta including five days of bull running, dancing, paella, sangria and calimocho... that's if we ever get there...
And... Why are we doing it?!
In 2003 we lost a very close friend in a tragic accident. Since then, her family have set up a charitable foundation in her name continuing the work that she was doing at the time.
We have always been keen to raise money for this charity, which is of course very close to our hearts.
Early in 2007 we were flying over the Pyrenees on a holiday to a village where Richard lived for six months prior to starting university.
At the time it was a joke, but we considered the possibility of crossing the mountains on foot. Since then the idea has grown to the point where we now each have a one-way ticket to France, and a return ticket from Spain...
